"The less I know about you the better; the more I know, the more I might think I should be a certain way toward you.
Are you old? Then teach me. Are you young? Then I teach you. This isn't always the case, but it sometimes happens. And so it can go with any detail of appearance or biography.
So let's be anonymous, you and I, and dance together, one soul to another."

Life is rich in purpose, overflowing with meaning, when agenda is abandoned. The more we project ourselves, the more anonymous we are; the more we sink into reality, the more we are known.
anonymous seems like freedom from definition . . a poet who is never at a loss for words and allowed to permeate time (never older or younger) finding the best way to learn is teach by example . . exploring yours is fun
Anonymity has two faces.
The saint and the rascal.
We have both faces.
I'm not afraid of both.
The saint could be the rascal; the rascal the saint.
If you want to remain anonymous, fine with me.
I know what you mean.
To define oneself is to limit oneself and ones potentials.
Also, it can mean self-sacrifice, egolessness, or shyness.
Whatever your motives are, it's fine with me.
What of eye contact? What of a smile or grin, or all those subconscious physical cues that tell one immediately whether you'll both click or not. I agree with everything you say and ideally, everyone should treat one another by The Golden Rule. Yet, how powerful is body language in the dance of Life. Everyone speaks it either consciously or subconsciously. Where does it fit in the scheme of things?
Hey Julie,
Glad to have found your blog. I've read some interesting entries after having made a quick overview.
I've also removed the poem on my blog from public entries as some friends warned me about it's too emotional tone. For now, it's better stay a bit more rational.
Thanks for your visit anyway!
Bert
Souls are not anonymous, they recognize each other.
Jon, you got it there.
Bradford, experience has been my best teacher; the wisest mentors steer one toward experience and become sparring partners. ::grins::
Imemine, you see what I mean.. it's interesting to know the details of somebody's everyday Clark Kent life, but sometimes it's hard not to let those things create expectations.
Jbmoore, I wonder that, too... when somebody knows who they are, it comes through at a glance. How to be toward the rest? Don't know yet.
Bert, thanks for your visit. When you get to the end of the road tread by logic and rationale, don't be afraid to step off the edge...
Jim, that's true.
Travis, that's true, too... by definition. ;)
Great post, Julie.
On a side note, I saw in your side-bar that you're reading Hardcore Zen. I picked it up at the library on Monday and am almost done with it - an interesting perspective!!!
Very thoughtful and well put. We think we know others, but often it's more that we know our assumptions about them.
Anonymity can preclude honesty, by definition ,and could be informed by an evil intent.
Would that we all were able to accept and give at random without consideration.
Peace
There is an intimacy that exists when we can connect on a level deeper than the usual things we might generally come to know about another - names, history, jobs, roles, and so forth. On this level, we see that we are not so separate at all. As Jon said, when we sink into this reality, we are known.
I really enjoy your blog, Julie.
Dancing with you here now...but we know who the other really is, don't we?
Trev; thanks so much. I'm looking forward to posting about Hardcore Zen... sometime!
Darius; thank you. It can be hard to get the "stuff" out of the way.
Goatman; true, but...
Meredith, yes, and yes, and thank you so much.
Isaiah; Dancing with you here now...but we know who the other really is, don't we? *wink*
